Peggy began singing when she was about two years old, encouraged by her mother and her maternal grandmother, who were both musicians. She sang in her high school and college glee clubs, and studied piano and voice for several years. She taught herself to play the guitar, when she was eighteen, to accompany herself singing. This combination became particularly helpful when she worked as a camp counselor for blind and multi-handicapped children while in college in the summers, and directed the camp music department the last summer. Later in her life, she went to Duquesne University to study music therapy, as a post masters student, and taught music therapy there for three years. She practiced music therapy in a variety of clinical and educational settings, as well. Peggy also sang in and directed the choir in her church for a number of years. She has sung in the Pittsburgh Oratorio Society and the Renaissance Choir, as well as with the Pittsburgh Savoyards. She has also taught workshops on the Power of Music and Sound. Peggy holds a B.A. in Sociology from Colby College, in Waterville, Maine, a M.Ed. in Special Education from Leslie University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, a master’s equivalent from Duquesne University in Music Therapy, and holds a Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh in Rehabilitation Counseling. She has been a licensed psychologist in private practice in |
